16 Best Deals: Gaming Headsets, Lego Kits, and iPads

The exact timing varies, but eventually it comes for many of us: seasonal affective disorder. (It happened to me this week.) The days are shorter, the skies are drearier, and winter looms ahead. We can’t make the sun shine year-round, but we can help the transition to hibernation mode feel a little less daunting. Keep yourself entertained with these great deals on board games, Lego sets, and our very favorite iPad. Be sure to check out our deals roundup from earlier this week on TVs, gaming peripherals, and wireless headphones

Tech Deals

Apple iPad

We’ve seen this deal a few times before, but it’s still generally the lowest price you can get. The 9th-Gen Apple iPad (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best iPad for most people. This tablet offers great value. It’s fast and powerful enough for most tasks, and it’s compatible with most of our favorite iPad accessories

Very few products earn a WIRED rating of 10/10, but this gaming headset did. The battery lasts an astounding 300 hours on a single charge. That’s 10 times longer than some other headsets. The sound quality is great too, and the headset is comfy. They’ve dipped down this low in price before, but they rarely go lower. Did we mention that the battery lasts 300 hours?

This isn’t exactly a deal, but you’ll get a $20 Target GiftCard with your purchase. This promotion ends today. It’s not a bad idea if you are already buying something from Target. The Skylight Frame is an honorable mention in our Best Digital Photo Frames guide. It comes with a wall mount (you’d still have a wire hanging out to power it), or you can use the included stand.

Rad Power Ebikes

Rad Power Ebikes is offering up to $300 off a few electric bike models. One standout is the RadRunner 2 Electric Cargo Bike for $1,299 ($200 off). We recommend Rad Power bikes in our Best Cargo Ebikes and Best Ebikes for Elderly Riders guides. To quote from the former, “It’s worth noting here that Rad Power has recently undergone a tumultuous series of lawsuits and layoffs; however, we’ve tested these bikes and know a number of people who have owned and operated theirs responsibly for years with no problems.”

The Segway P100S (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a whopping 73 pounds, so it’s not really for anyone in a walk-up. But it’s plenty powerful and can hit a max speed of 30 miles per hour. The range is pretty great, and it’s super stable on the road. You even get turn signals. We thought it was a bit too pricey at its MSRP, but this discount makes it a great value.

Photograph: Arlo

We recently downranked this video doorbell due to Arlo raising prices on its subscription service, but also because we have started to notice lag on the live video feed. (There’s a two- to three-second delay.) That said, it offers an expansive field of view, swift alerts, and detailed video quality. You can also set it so that someone who presses the doorbell initiates a call to your phone. This is a great price for this doorbell, just note the issues with the delay. This deal ends on October 22.

This is our favorite outdoor security camera right now. You get crystal-clear footage whether it’s day or night, speedy load times for the live feed, and smart notifications that can detect who or what is in the frame. There’s HDR support too. Check out our Best Outdoor Security Cameras guide for more details. This deal ends on October 22.

Lego and Game Deals

Photograph: Amazon

If your kid is saying “I want Legos for Christmas!” then look no further. This box comes with 790 bricks for the ultimate imaginative playtime. There are baseplates, windows, doors, classic square bricks, and more. The box doubles as storage for all those little pieces.

This building set includes over 1,600 pieces and is suitable for ages 8 and up. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, so one of the buildable floats is bunny-themed. There’s also a dragon float and a musician float. The set includes 18 minifigures.

This Lego building set rarely goes on sale, so even $20 off is a solid deal. The set is designed with adults in mind and is suitable for ages 18 and older. The kit includes two smaller pyramids, a section of the Nile river, a Sphinx statue, and more.

It’s almost that time of year. The winter stir crazies are looming, and so will cries of “I’m bored! There’s nothing to do!” This board game sale might be of some assistance. There are plenty of family-friendly options to choose from. Some favorites from my board game nights include Exploding Kittens,  Don’t Break the Ice, and Codenames. Check out our Best Family Board Games guide for more recommendations.

Several digital titles from Bethesda are on sale in the Nintendo Switch eShop, including Doom, Skyrim, and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Prices start at $4, so this is a solid way to add some new games to your library on the cheap. Check here for more deals. They run through October 31.

Other Deals

Breville Barista Express

Photograph: Breville

This deal is a holdover from Amazon Prime Day. It’s still a goody. Breville’s Barista Express is one of our favorite all-in-one espresso machines. It includes a burr grinder, which lets you grind your coffee directly into the portafilter, fresh for each and every shot so you get the best possible flavor out of your beans. WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu has been using his model with no issues since 2018.

It’s almost gift-wrapping season. Clip the on-page coupon to get a good price on this gigantic bundle of tape, which comes with 1,000 inches of seam-adhesion goodness. It usually costs around $17.

DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress

Photograph: Dreamcloud

DreamCloud’s Fall Flash Sale claims 50 percent off its mattresses, but that’s because it inflates the MSRP and constantly shows its products “on sale.” That said, this is actually a decent deal on a pretty good mattress in our Best Mattresses guide. It’s not 50 percent off, but the sale price is lower than what this mattress usually goes for. This deal ends on October 30.

Once you start using a utility wagon, you’ll never go back. This collapsible model is easy to store and pop open when you need it. It makes hauling coolers, sleeping bags, and other supplies a cinch. It might also come in handy when unloading your groceries—or, in my case, returning from the UPS store with a mountain of cardboard boxes.
