Technology is a double-edged sword. Sometimes it makes our lives easier and gives us world-changing innovations like the steam engine, the microprocessor, and the internet. Other times it gives us things like spam, Black Friday, and Amazon Prime Day. But at least with those last two, we get some killer deals even if we do get chased by ads everywhere we go. Here are our top picks for the best Prime Day tech deals in 2023.

The Pixel 7A is the best Google phone for most folks. It has a 6.1-inch OLED screen that’s just right, Google’s Tensor G2 processor for slick performance, and a top-notch 64-megapixel camera with a 13-megapixel ultrawide that turns out better photos than many more expensive phones. You also get wireless charging, IP67 water resistance, and Google’s unique Pixel features.

If you want a flagship phone that won’t break the bank, the Pixel 7 Pro (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is your best bet. Google reserves its best software smarts for the Pixel range, and this phone boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120-Hz refresh rate. It also hosts Google’s best camera system to date. Performance is excellent, battery life is solid, there’s an IP68 rating for water resistance, and it supports wireless charging. While it’s often discounted to $749 and has briefly dipped to $700, this is a new low. The 256 GB and 512 GB models are also on sale.

Although it is last year’s best budget Android phone, the Pixel 6A (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is worth a look if your budget is tight, especially with this discount. It is a strong performer, has some of the best software smarts around, and has a lovely bright screen. No wonder it is our budget pick for folks set on a Pixel phone. 

The eye-catching Motorola Razr+ (7/10, WIRED Review) is super cute. It folds into a compact square with a 3.6-inch OLED screen on the front. Flip it open and there’s a 6.9-inch screen inside. Performance is good, it supports wireless charging, and it will draw admiring glances, but the camera and battery life are nothing to write home about.

Samsung’s Galaxy A54 5G (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of our favorite cheap phones. It has a bright screen with an impressive 120-Hz refresh rate, boasts good battery life, and has a decent camera. The performance isn’t top-notch, and there’s no wireless charging, but it’s good for the money. Often discounted to $375, this is as low as we’ve seen it.

The curvy OnePlus 11 (7/10, WIRED recommends) is a good-looking phone that boasts speedy performance; a bright, 120-Hz AMOLED screen; nice speakers; good battery life; and reliable cameras. It lacks wireless charging, and there are some quirks in the software, but this is one of the best Android phones you can buy right now.

You can find better tablets out there if you are willing to spend, but the Fire HD Plus is our favorite Fire tablet, and it is very affordable. It will serve you well for watching shows and movies or reading books through Amazon Prime and other Amazon memberships. There is nothing better under $200, and we like it a lot more than the new Fire 11 Max. It tends to go on sale about once a month. The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition is also on sale for $120 ($80 off).

If portability is important to you, the iPad Mini (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is a solid choice. This svelte slate has a bright screen, USB-C charging, and support for the second-generation Apple Pencil. It’s easy to slip into a bag, but the smaller size means limited battery life. Its price normally alternates between $400 and $469.

If you want a luxury Android tablet there is not a huge choice, but this is the one we recommend in our Best Tablets guide. (Granted, there isn’t a lot of competition.) It boasts an 11-inch LCD screen that is sharp, colorful, bright, and a perfect size. The speakers sound great, the performance is practically flawless, and it comes with a stylus that magnetically sticks to the back of the slate. Samsung’s DeX mode lets you go into a desktop-like environment to crank out some light work as well, which is a nice perk.

The long-awaited Pixel Watch (6/10, WIRED review) is round and beautiful, like a smooth pebble, and incredibly comfortable on the wrist. There is also a responsive screen that gets bright enough to see outdoors. You can check and respond to your notifications, make payments, and answer calls from your wrist, but the battery is not great. Thankfully, Google has issued updates that have added many of the missing features at launch, like fall detection. 

If you want to draw or write on your iPad, there is no better way to do it than with an Apple Pencil. You can find it in our Best iPad Accessories guide because it is one of the most useful tools you can add to the iPad. It manages to feel like a normal pencil, and lines get thicker when you press down harder. It is also great for navigating iPadOS, which has handwriting support in various search fields, so you don’t need to switch to the keyboard to type. It’s handy for signing or marking up documents, too.

We think this is the best iPad keyboard case if you want to convert your iPad into something of a laptop. It’s detachable, fairly slim, with a lovely fabric texture, and it looks lovely. It doesn’t wobble too much when you type with it on your lap, the backlit keys are handy, and typing on it feels nice. It even connects via Apple’s Smart Connector, so there’s no need to worry about Bluetooth or charging.

A mainstay of offices and home offices everywhere, Logitech’s HD Pro Webcam C920 is one of the most tried-and-true die-hard reliable webcams on the market. It features a 1080p, 30 frame-per-second video output, which is less than exciting in the day of 4K cameras, but for a webcam, it’s a perfectly serviceable resolution. 

Satechi’s four-port hub is big, considering the number of ports you get, but there’s a good reason. Remove the aluminum cover to find a slot for an M.2 SATA solid-state storage drive. That means access to an external SSD, along with two USB-A ports, one 100-watt USB-C pass-through charging port, and a 4K HDMI at the same time. Sadly, Satechi’s hub does not support NVME M.2 cards.

This compact USB-C hub is a little taller but narrower than a Zippo lighter, and it packs a 4K HDMI port, a USB-A, an 85-watt USB-C port with pass-through charging, and a headphone jack. It’s handy to have in your bag for use with an iPad or MacBook, or other USB-C laptops and tablets.

Samsung’s T7 Shield 1-TB external hard drive is a rugged little thing. With an IP65 rating, which means it’s water- and dust-resistant, it’s a great pick for anyone looking for some extra storage for photos and videos while camping or hiking. 

At a whopping 12 terabytes, this Seagate external hard drive is enormous, truly gargantuan. A perfect home for your archive of family or professional photos or videos. Our reviewer Matt Jancer has used Seagate hard drives like this for years without issue; they’re solid, reliable, and most importantly, massive. 

Logitech’s G Pro wireless gaming mouse is one of our all-time faves. It feels great in the hand, and your fingers fall right where all the buttons are. Plus the little feet on the underside make it effortlessly glide over the surface of your desk or a mousepad. Not to mention, you’ll get about 48 hours of use out of a single charge. 

Cherry has a reputation as a legendary manufacturer of switches for mechanical keyboards, but did you know the company actually makes keyboards, too? They do! And this one is an ultra low-profile keyboard that gives you wireless freedom without sacrificing that signature Cherry click-clack. 

The Logitech G915 TKL is a great tenkeyless keyboard for work or for gaming. It has five macro keys on the left side of the keyboard for programming automations and custom shortcuts, which makes it a good pick for anyone doing pro-level photo or video editing. If you just want to set and forget your Wi-Fi, the Nest Wifi Pro (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is in our Best Mesh Routers guide as the best option for folks seeking simplicity. Google’s pill-shaped mesh routers serve up reliable Wi-Fi with no tweaking or management required. They use the 6-GHz band for backhaul and serve as smart home hubs with built-in Thread radios, Bluetooth LE (low Energy), and Matter support.

This is an attractively priced bundle that includes the Eero Pro 6 Mesh Wi-Fi System 3-pack and a FireTV Stick 4K Max. Upgrade your Wi-Fi and enjoy that high-speed wireless network by streaming the latest shows and movies. The best window AC units will give you more cooling power for less money, but if you need something portable, we really like the EcoFlow Wave 2 (8/10, WIRED Recommends). It’s effective for cooling down a small room, RV, or tent, and it works as a heater during the winter months. But it is expensive, even with the Prime Day discount.

As our favorite robot vacuum, the Roborock Q5+ (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is simple to use and incredibly reliable. It can map multiple room types, handle different floor types, and has a straightforward app. The downside is the price tag, so you’ll want to grab one while it is discounted.

If you want a robot vacuum that can deftly dodge any obstacles, Samsung’s Jet Bot AI+ has you covered, though it may leave a 4-inch clearance around obstacles. It’s a large vacuum with a massive tower, which we don’t like, but it’s quiet, fast, and powerful. A hefty price tag may put you off, but nearly half off right now makes it much more tempting.

The Chromecast with Google TV (8/10, WIRED Recommends) comes with a handy remote, but you can also cast from your phone or use voice commands with Google Assistant. A wide range of apps are supported and it is easy to search across all of your streaming platforms for a show or movie. 

The Gotrax Apex is the budget pick in our Best Electric Scooters guide. It is lightweight and easy to fold, boasts an integrated bell and a digital display to show speed and battery life, and can go up to 15 mph. It is reliable, but not the smoothest ride, and can struggle with inclines.

With good build quality, a functional app, and solid range, the Niu KQi3 Max Escooter (7/10, WIRED recommends) is easy to fold and carry. The throttle is responsive, and it can go smoothly at more than 20 mph, with reliable dual disc brakes for when you need to stop. Sadly, it is heavy and lacks turn signals.

We love this internet-connected Bluetooth chessboard because it enables you to play opponents from across the globe anywhere. It’s lightweight and rolls up neatly when you need to stow it, with bags for the large pieces. Square Off’s app hooks into online chess services, so you can always find a game.
