Nova Twins Drop Empowering ‘Cleopatra’ From ‘Supernova’ Album

Nova Twins are back, dropping their latest song “Cleopatra” from the upcoming Supernova album and it’s a track that comes with plenty of uplifting and empowering energy.

Pulsing guitars and heavy drum beat provide the musical backdrop for this empowering new track, which opens with the defiant lines, “I’m the type of girl who likes taking the lead / I don’t give a fuck what they say about me / They say I’m scary, I’m not ladylike, I act like a queen / And I’ll be wearing the crown whilst I’ll be kissing my teeth, yeah.“

Amy Love says of the track, “‘Cleopatra’ was written off the back of the Black Lives Matter protests. Attending them made us feel powerful as two mixed-race women in an era where people were suddenly waking up to Anti Racists conversations. It’s about celebrating who we are and being proud of where we come from. We hope this song encourages people from all walks of life to act and feel the same way too.”

Nova Twins, “Cleopatra”

“Cleopatra” is featured on Nova Twins upcoming album, Supernova, due June 17 via Marshall Music.

Speaking recently at the BandLab NME Awards, Love and her cohort Georgia South told NME of the upcoming record, “Supernova is the beginning of a new era. As we delved into the unknown, making this album became our medicine through a turbulent time. It’s a reflection of where we were and how far we have come, encased in a fantasy world that we imagined. Supernova is made out of dreams, triumphs and colorful nightmares. When you get to the other side, you will always come out a winner.”

As for what fans can expect, Love offered, “It’s dark, but it’s also quite sinister. But also fun. It’s a journey of lockdown and coming out the other end a winner. We’re really excited.”
